Xavier Institute of Communications launches its Event Planning & Experiential Marketing Course

The course is crafted to equip and prepare students for a career in the Events, Experiential, Activations and Live Entertainment Industry.

Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC), a curricular unit of St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous), has launched its Event Planning & Experiential Marketing course beginning this academic year 2020-21. The course is a 10-month full-time Diploma Programme to nurture and groom future-ready event professionals.

“While the Events industry has garnered a very optimistic growth in the media eco-system, reality showed a dearth of qualified event professionals at the entry level. To plug this gap, XIC has stepped-up to the plate to give the Communications community, another breed of well qualified Event Practitioners”

Dr. Fr. Conrad Pesso, SJ Director of XIC.

Elaborating further, he said, “Some of our current courses like ‘Advertising & Marketing’, ‘Public Relations’ and the ‘Advanced Integrated Communication Programme’ already had an Event Management Module as a part of their programme. The response and the buzz generated from these ground events, encouraged us to offer a well-balanced Eventcentric course to aspiring students who wanted to make a full-time career in Event Management”.

As a pioneer in the Media and Communications Institute for over 50 years, XIC has developed a very compressive syllabus and robust course structure to give its students a 360° perspective and an in-depth exposure to this diverse and ever-evolving media & entertainment industry. Care has been taken to incorporate a right balance of academics and hands-on familiarisation to practical training.

The course has also been designed keeping in mind the current expectations and most importantly future trends of this dynamic industry. A substantial part of the education is conducted through ‘assisted learning’ that involves students undertaking assignments, research case studies, projects – individually or in groups under the guidance of qualified
and industry experienced faculty.

The course will also integrate the disciplines of Brand Marketing & Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, Mass Media, Digital Media, Audio-Video Production and futuristic platforms of technology to make for a well-rounded event professional.
